Red Light/Near Infrared Light Therapy is increasingly being used in spas, clinics, and at home to help manage a variety of symptoms.  It is an approved therapy by the FDA for a variety of conditions including the promotion of healing, decreasing inflammation, and relieving pain. of pain and inflammation, and restoration of function.

Red wavelengths benefit the skin and systems within the skin tissue, including the circulatory system, peripheral nervous system, and hair follicles. This therapy is not recommended for people with photosensitizing conditions or if you are taking medications such as tetracycline, hydrochlorothiazide, or other photo-sensitizing drugs.

The longer wavelengths of near-infrared (NIR) reach beneath the skin to cells deep in your body, including muscles, joints, and bones. Studies have shown a measurable decrease in pain scores for people with pain after using NIR therapy.

An important factor in using Red and NIR therapy is consistency over time to get the best results. This is not a one-time treatment.

Humans need light waves to be healthy.  Our ancestors spent hours out in the sun, absorbing the various light frequencies that not only help us synthesize Vitamin D but also to help our mitochondria, the powerhouses of our cells stay healthy and generate energy.

Now we spend most of our time indoors or slather on sunscreen before we go outside. We are not getting exposed to the beneficial wavelengths of light that our bodies need to function optimally. Wintertime presents its own challenges with getting enough light on our skin.

Using Red/NIR light as a way to support healthy mitochondria, and decrease inflammation and pain is a great way to supplement if we are not able to get outside to access natural light waves.

An important factor in using Red and NIR therapy is consistency over time to get the best results.
